A bit of history for you…

The first transcription I ever published was on YouTube back in 2018 (check it out below!) I saw a video of The Fearless Flyers playing Ace of Aces and just had to learn it! But I couldn’t find any tabs for it on the internet so realised I would have to learn it myself. Learning guitar in the 1980s you had to learn most things by ear so that wasn’t the problem. My issue was remembering all the notes when I came back to it the next day!!

The solution was to write it down so I could refer back to it whenever I needed. Sounded easy enough but getting to grips with the Guitar Pro software and especially how to write the rhythms etc took a bit more effort that I had anticipated! Thankfully the music studies of my youth came back to me and were a big help. Finally, I had a full transcription for both parts and had a lot of fun learning the licks of these guys who impressed me but who I’d never heard of before, Mark Lettieri and Cory Wong! Funny how things turn out ;)

I then figured that if I had been looking for a transcription of this track, maybe others would like to have access to my tabs. Which lead to me making and publishing that very first video, thinking it would be a one off! But more and more people watched it and requested more tabs and lessons and the channel has grown since then. Currently at over 6K subscribers and half a million views I have branched out from Cory, Mark and the Fearless Flyers to look at tracks by John Petrucci, Steve Vai, Greg Koch, Andy Wood, Vulfpeck, Paul Gilbert and many others. The Funk Faves series has also proven to be popular covering some iconic riffs by Nile Rodgers, Michael Jackson, Luther Vandross, Kool & The Gang etc.
